City of Miami Association of Retired Employees

International Executive Board, 1986

WHEREAS:

The City of Miami Association of Retired Employees, with some 1,350 members which has existed since 1966 as an incorporated association, has voted overwhelmingly to affiliate with the AFSCME Retirees Program and

WHEREAS:

The affiliation will become permanent immediately and the Association will also begin full payment of the International per capita tax for retirees and

WHEREAS:

The rules adopted by the International Executive Board establish a minimum dues structure for each retiree chapter of $10.20 per member per year and

WHEREAS:

The current dues rate of the City of Miami Association of Retired Employees is $5.00 per member per year and

WHEREAS:

The leadership of the Association have pledged that they will undertake all reasonable efforts to raise their dues structure to the AFSCME minimum.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME agrees to waive the Retiree Chapter minimum dues provision for the City of Miami Association of Retired Employees until the end of calender year 1988 or until such earlier date at which they may have reached the minimum dues level.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:

 

That the City of Miami Association of Retired Employees may, as an AFSCME Retiree Chapter, continue to function as an incorporated association.
