Tom Tosti

Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania

Tom Tosti began his career with 3M after graduating from high school and joined Teamsters Local 107, later becoming shop steward of the plant’s cement house. In 1991, he became a member of AFSCME Local 2158 while working for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

In 1997, he was named vice president of Local 2158 and later elected president. He served as the representative for the Agility Program and was a negotiator on two state contracts.

In 2005, Tosti was hired as a staff representative for AFSCME District Council 88 and, three years later, became president of the AFSCME Council 13 staff union, PICSU.

In 2010, he was elected director of AFSCME District Council 88. He serves as a trustee on the Pennsylvania Employees Benefit Trust Fund, the largest healthcare fund in the state.

As a graduate of the Penn State Labor Leader Institute, Tosti further serves his community as president of the Bucks County Central Labor Council, and he was elected Middletown Township supervisor.

He is a board member of the Bucks County Association for Retired and Senior Citizens; was appointed Chair of the Philadelphia AFL-CIO Public Sector Committee; was elected chair of trustees for the Philadelphia AFL-CIO; and was appointed to serve on the Bucks County Planning Commission.

Tosti has received the Crystal Eastman Award from PhilaPOSH; the Bayard Rustin Leadership Award from the A. Phillip Randolph Institute Philadelphia Chapter; the Bucks County NAACP’s Community Service Award; the Lifetime Service Award from the Lehigh Valley Labor Council; the Lifetime Labor Leader Award from the Delaware County Labor Council; and the Trish Coyle Award from the Bucks County Labor Council.
