There’s still time to apply for the AFSCME Family Scholarship.

The application deadline has been extended to Jan. 15 from the original date of Dec. 31, 2019.

Each year, the AFSCME Family Scholarship Program provides 10 scholarships of $2,000 each to graduating high school seniors. The scholarships will be renewed for $2,000 each year for a maximum of four years – as long as the student remains enrolled in a full-time course of study. The award can be used for any field of study.

The AFSCME Family Scholarship is just one way to ease the burden of college tuition for working families.

Jan. 31 is deadline for the Union Plus scholarship. This program is open to working and retiree members of AFSCME, spouses and dependent children. Amounts range from $500 to $4,000. These one-time cash awards are for study beginning in the fall of 2020. Students may re-apply each year.

Our union also offers the AFSCME Free College Benefit, which lets students earn their associate degree online. Or, for students who have already earned their associate degree, AFSCME is now offering a new bachelor’s degree completion program

Both programs provide flexible, affordable options for working people to reach their educational goals.
