Never Quit winner helps keep Houston’s water clean

By AFSCME Staff ·

Daniel Ellis is a wastewater operations tech at one of Houston’s wastewater treatment plants. The work he does is vital because he helps clean the city’s water to keep the public healthy and maintain aquatic life.

“What drives me every day to get out of bed and go to work is the fact that I know that I’m making an impact on the community,” he says. “Helping people is what I strive to do.”

Ellis, a member of HOPE AFSCME Local 123, is praised by co-workers for his commitment and work ethic.

“Daniel is very determined,” says Joshua Davis, a plant supervisor. “He’s a go-getter and he’s going to keep after it until he gets what he needs to get done.”

Ellis (earlier featured on our blog) is a winner of our union’s Never Quit Service Award, which recognizes public service workers who go above and beyond the call of duty to make their communities better.
