As we observe 2021 National Correctional Officers and Employees Week, we thank AFSCME corrections workers for the extraordinary sacrifices they have made during the COVID-19 pandemic. Many went to work despite not having enough personal protective equipment. Many worked long hours due to staffing shortages. Some died from the disease.

AFSCME President Lee Saunders says in a tribute video, “To the members of our union family who work in corrections, thank you. Thank you again for the courage you’ve shown on the front lines. We appreciate everything you do – not just this week, but 52 weeks a year.”
