Saunders: “No question that quality public schools are a gateway to the middle class for millions of American children.”

AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders issued the following statement in support of National Healthy Schools Day, April 7, 2015:

“There is no question that quality public schools are a gateway to the middle class for millions of American children. AFSCME members from coast-to-coast work hard to ensure that our nation’s students are learning in an environment that supports their path to success. Whether it’s making sure students have a safe way to get to and from school or making sure classrooms are clean and secure, or providing nutritious meals, AFSCME members are dedicated to helping America’s children thrive. AFSCME is committed to protecting the next generation’s path to the middle class, and we are proud to support National Healthy Schools Day 2015.”
