AFSCME Opposes President Trump’s Budget Plan to Slash Vital Public Services

WASHINGTON —

AFSCME Pres. Lee Saunders issued the following statement on President Trump’s budget proposal, which would slash tens of billions of dollars in funding for vital public services:

“AFSCME strongly opposes President Trump’s plan to reduce vital public services that support working families and keep the economy strong. This is the President’s first budget and a new opportunity to back up his promises to help working families with real action and real help. But his proposed cuts do just the opposite.

“We urge President Trump to make good on his promises to stand with middle class families and reverse his plan to drastically reduce investments in public health, public schools, infrastructure, public safety and other important public services.”
