CHICAGO – Bayo Aladesuru drives one of Chicago’s 125 wheelchair accessible cabs.  But what distinguishes Bayo, a veteran cab driver and Cab Drivers United/AFSCME Council 31 member, is how he gives back to the community he loves.

For the fifth time, Bayo is a finalist for the Cab Driver of the Year award, given to a Chicago cab driver who goes above and beyond duty to assist and give back to the community.

“I get a lot from the community, and I was able to give back that day, and I feel great about it” said Aladesuru.

“I put myself in the position of people who are in a wheelchair,” he continued.  “How would I feel?  We help them to move, to their doctor’s appointments, dialysis centers, nursing homes, to the bank, everything they do, we help them stay mobile.”

Bayo is hopeful that the fifth time is a charm, and looks forward to the award ceremony in mid-March.
