The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), which is made up of 55 labor unions that represent 12.5 million working people, is profiling its member unions one by one.

Today is AFSCME’s turn to be featured.

AFSCME was established during the Great Depression by a group of state employees in Madison, Wisconsin. Now, we are one of the nation’s leading unions for public service workers, with members in communities across the nation serving in hundreds of occupations. We advocate for fairness in the workplace, excellence in public services and freedom and opportunity for all working families.
