Saunders: ‘AFSCME will not let up until UC student workers win the contract they deserve’

AFSCME President Lee Saunders released the following statement in support of UC Student-Workers Union UAW 2865, UAW Local 5810 and Student Researchers United-UAW members who are on strike:

“AFSCME’s 1.4 million members, including the over 30,000 AFSCME 3299 members who work at the University of California, stand in solidarity with UC student workers who have been on strike for more than a week. These workers are the backbone of the university and deserve fair compensation and respect for the essential work they do. We urge the University of California to return to the negotiating table and bargain in good faith.

“AFSCME 3299 members are proud to join their fellow UC workers on the picket line, and AFSCME will not let up until UC student workers represented by the UAW win the contract they deserve.”
