Position Summary:

The FTE Program Manager for the Health Workers Working Healthy Program is the staff person responsible for program implementation of the Training Fund’s safety and health initiative, which will entail helping to conduct a safety and health needs assessment, developing training materials and curriculum, recruiting environmental service workers and other frontline healthcare workers into worker and peer train-the-trainer classes focused on hazardous identification and awareness, and evaluating the program’s effectiveness.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Health Workers Working Healthy Program
  • Help to conduct safety and health needs assessment and analyze results
  • Help design and lead an outreach and recruitment campaign with District 1199C members
  • Manage trainer teaching schedules and trainee classes
  • Manage program activities with employers to ensure their engagement
  • Ensure that student enrollment numbers and other required outcomes are met
  • Help to conduct evaluation activities and analyze the evaluation results
  • Provide written reports as needed
  • Follow agency and funder’s guidelines on expenditures
  • Input required data into agency database
  • Organize special events such as graduation, Constitution Day, Peer Leader recognition
  • Meet and report as required with the Program Manager
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Experience in program coordination, needs assessment, evaluation and grant funded contracts
  • Background in workplace safety and health; understanding of workers’ rights under OSHA 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, documentation, organizational and computer skills
  • Experience in working within a union environment preferred
