Public Sector Retirement Boards

WHEREAS:

Retired public employees depend upon state and local government pensions for primary source of income after retirement; and

WHEREAS:

In most cases, retirees made substantial financial contributions during their working years to fund their retirement benefits; and

WHEREAS:

Retired public employees can contribute valuable experience and knowledge in working for pension plan improvements.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

That the International Union, councils and locals support representation by public employee retirees on public sector retirement boards in order that recipients have a voice in influencing decisions relating to their pension needs.
