WHEREAS:

The Presidents Club, established in 1982, is a focal point for all AFSCME members to identify themselves as AFSCME political activists by joining the Presidents Club through a minimum contribution of $35 a year; and

WHEREAS:

Since its inauguration the PEOPLE Presidents Club has proven to be an incentive for AFSCME members to sign up for PEOPLE checkoff, and is largely responsible for PEOPLE's fundraising success during the past two years; and

WHEREAS:

More than 5,000 AFSCME members and their families have joined the Presidents Club in support of AFSCME's political and legislative goals.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That all AFSCME councils, locals and Presidents Club members join in an effort to double the number of AFSCME's corps of political activists by renewing their membership and encouraging their brothers and sisters to become members of the Presidents Club.
