AFSCME is the fastest growing union in America with over 1.2 million members nationwide; and

WHEREAS:

To maintain the vitality, spirit, and effectiveness of the union, AFSCME must continue to aggressively organize and grow; and

A large and strong membership is necessary to confront the enormous problems facing our locals due to drastic fiscal constraints imposed by the Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Bill and other legislation; and

WHEREAS:

There are still millions of unorganized public and private non-profit employees across America who do not enjoy the benefits of collective bargaining or dignity in the workplace.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME continue to make organizing the unorganized a high priority.
