WHEREAS:

Employment in the private non-profit sector has increased considerably over the last decade; and

WHEREAS:

The growth potential of the private non-profit sector in the next decade is unlimited; and

WHEREAS:

Most public sector employees are now organized; and

WHEREAS:

Many public sector employers are looking to the non-union private non-profit sector in order to privatize and contract out public sector services.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME commit itself to organizing the private non-profit sector in order to insure that organized labor always has a voice in the struggle of workers providing services to America.
