Shorter Work Week

WHEREAS:

The numbers of unemployed, and under-employed workers continue to increase; and

WHEREAS:

Many workers that had full-time jobs are now working part-time, and are not considered part of the ranks of the unemployed; and

WHEREAS:

Congress is now considering changes in the social service laws which will force welfare recipients into work-fare/slave-labor jobs, which we should all oppose.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME fight for a shorter workday to create more real jobs.
