WHEREAS:

The proposed trade pact with Mexico and Canada will jeopardize the jobs of thousands of workers in the United States, Mexico and Canada; and

WHEREAS:

The current administration is not interested in negotiating a trade agreement which protects U.S. labor standards, environmental standards, safety and health standards, and human rights standards.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME oppose any trade agreement which does not address the economic needs of working men and women, health, safety and legal protections for workers, protection for the environment, and maintenance of human rights.
