Create 15 Year Incentive For PEOPLE Program

WHEREAS:

The PEOPLE Program is AFSCME's political and legislative fundraising program. PEOPLE allows AFSCME members to work together in financially supporting political candidates in national elections. PEOPLE supports candidates who are in favor of legislation, funding and policies that promote quality public services at every level of government; and

WHEREAS:

THE CSEA PEOPLE Committee is charged with initiating programs to educate our members on the importance of the PEOPLE Program and to elect labor-friendly officials. Using the VIP PEOPLE President's Club, and its incentive program, we solicit voluntary contributions from CSEA members; and

WHEREAS:

In 1999, CSEA's PEOPLE Program successfully raised more than $657,000 with a membership participation of over 14,000 members; and

WHEREAS:

The AFSCME PEOPLE Program is approaching its 15th year anniversary; and

WHEREAS:

The CSEA Statewide PEOPLE Committee recommends that a 15th year incentive be offered to the members of the PEOPLE Program.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That AFSCME provide a 15 year incentive to members of the PEOPLE Program in the form of an updated stylish jacket by the 15th year anniversary date.
