To celebrate Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards’s proclamation of Public Service Recognition Day, 700 state workers gathered on the grounds of the state capitol in Baton Rouge.
There, AFSCME members launched a powerful message – that Louisiana’s budget crisis can be solved easily if corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
The event, held May 10, sent a message to those state lawmakers who would rather give massive tax breaks to large corporations than provide adequate funding for public service so the entire state could benefit.
