What’s at stake for women in the elections

U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi spoke with AFSCME Secretary-Treasurer Elissa McBride, American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten, National Education Association President-Elect Becky Pringle and For Our Future Pennsylvania State Director Ashley McBride for “Sisterhood Is Powerful: Women & The 2020 Election,” a virtual town hall commemorating the 100 Anniversary of the 19th Amendment

Pelosi and the other leaders discussed what’s at stake for women in the upcoming elections and reflected on what we have gained from our participation in democracy. As we approach Nov. 3, the panelists highlighted the role of women in the 2020 elections and discussed plans to overcome barriers to voting – from a global pandemic to the president’s attacks on the electoral system. Other topics included our health and safety, our jobs, our children, our public services, and our future, all of which depend on our powerful activism at this critical moment in history.
