AFSCME President Lee Saunders Urges Remaining Presidential Candidates to ‘Stay the Course’

Following the results of the New Hampshire Democratic primary election, AFSCME President Lee Saunders issued this statement urging the remaining candidates to continue to give working people a voice on the campaign trail and to ultimately unite to defeat Donald Trump:

“All of the candidates on the Democratic ballot in New Hampshire today are bold and unwavering champions for working people. They have proven that they understand the importance of labor unions to unrigging the system and building an economy that works for everyone. Millions of voters have yet to choose, and I encourage all remaining candidates to stay the course and give more working people a chance to make their voices heard.

“And in the end, I urge all candidates to stand united behind whomever wins the nomination. Donald Trump is doing everything in his power to build an economy that benefits himself and his rich friends but does next to nothing for working people. From health care cuts, to tax giveaways for the wealthiest Americans, to denying people help with student debt, Donald Trump has demonstrated scathing contempt for anyone who isn’t like him. We simply can’t afford four more years of this administration. Full stop.”
