Want Your Mail? Say No to Privatizing the Postal Service
By AFSCME Staff ·

The U.S. Postal Service is the most popular federal government agency, and it’s been around since 1775. Now, the most unpopular president in modern history, who’s been in office for two years, is trying to get rid of it.

Earlier this year, the Trump administration outlined a plan that could result in the privatization of the postal service, which would benefit Wall Street and hurt working families. President Donald Trump seems to shun all things foreign but is eager in this instance to follow in the footsteps of Europe, where postal privatization has led to delivery cuts and higher costs for everyday people.

A corporate post office would be bad for all of us. It’s likely that you wouldn’t get your mail every day and that you’d have to pay a lot more to get it delivered, especially if you send to or from rural areas. Universal delivery to every address in the country would likely end.

Our sisters and brothers at the American Postal Workers Union and National Association of Letter Carriers are fighting back. They produced a new ad to spread the word about this disastrous plan from the Trump administration.
