The administration is threatening to upend the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program.
They’re saying that if an employer doesn’t tow its ideological line, they’re going to prevent its workers from using PSLF.
While the administration claims that this move is about preventing employers from conducting “illegal” activities, what their absurd rule change is really about is pressuring employers to follow its anti-worker agenda.
And they’re using us as political pawns.
The PSLF program encourages careers in public service with the promise of having the balance of workers’ federal direct student loans forgiven after 10 years of repayments.
Thanks in part to AFSCME’s efforts to improve the PSLF program, over 1 million public service workers have had their loans forgiven.
The PSLF program is a crucial tool in attracting people to careers in public service. It should be protected.
